During the last week or so, President Donald Trump has revived his favorite boondoggle—a new U.S./Mexico border wall. And just in the last few days, fate has given Congress an excuse to not fund it: Hurricane Harvey. Harvey has been unrelenting, catastrophic and will cost untold billions of dollars and require several years of recovery work from thousands of people.
Now, Trump’s dearly loved slogan repeated ad infinitum is “America First.” So, let’s do that. Let’s rebuild a storm-ravaged America first before we build a wall—unless it’s a sea wall.
