I predicted, brashly, that Justin Verlander would pitch a perfect game yesterday. For a while, it looked like he would. He retired the first nine batters he faced, four of them by strikeout.  He retired 13 batters before giving up a hit. Alas, he left the game after six innings, having given up two hits, two walks, and three earned runs. His team, the Houston Astros, won the game in extra innings. Look for the Astros to win three straight in Houston (starting tomorrow night) and win the World Series without having to return to Los Angeles. Jose Altuve will prove that he is this year's American League Most Valuable Player.
