Before the vote, I told Katherine that the Democrats blew a chance to win the seat by not putting up a decent candidate (one who, for example, didn't support abortion rights). I guess I had it backward: the Republicans blew a chance to win the seat by not putting up a decent candidate (one who, for example, didn't have personal baggage). Roy Moore has served his state well for a long time. He needs to disappear from public life.
