In reference to President Trump's cringe worthy s—hole remarks, letter writer Leslie Anton "can't believe we are spending upward of five days discussing what words were used," because "there are real problems in the country and world" that should be solved with negotiations.

I agree, but unfortunately what those words show, once again, is that the president of the United States is a racist. Seeing this man half way is giving up far too much.

— Mitchell Turker, Southwest Portland

Note from KBJ: If Donald Trump is a racist, then everyone (or every white person) is a racist; and doesn't that drain the term of its meaning? Perhaps Mitchell Turker will explain what racism is in his next letter. If whites are not automatically racist (which is itself a form of racism), then what is his evidence that Donald Trump is a racist? I've been watching and listening to Trump for well over two years, and I haven't seen an iota of evidence that he is a racist, where racism means treating people differently on account of their race. I'm coming to the conclusion that, to leftists, "x is a racist" means nothing more than "I hate x!"
