Your March 17 editorial “The Great Collusion Hunt” ignores a legitimate, perhaps more important, area that should be investigated by special counsel Robert Mueller: Donald Trump’s alleged financial ties to Russia, Russian banks and Russian oligarchs.

It is noteworthy that Mr. Trump criticizes nearly everyone: enemies, friends, Cabinet members he appointed, family members, etc. About the only person he hasn’t once insulted or criticized by name is Russian President Vladimir Putin. Not once. Common sense would seem to indicate that the reason for this exceeds any alleged embarrassing prostitution tape. Even Mr. Trump does not deny that he’s all about the money.

The editorial asks for “more civility and goodwill in our politics.” Certainly the editorial board would have to admit that the primary cause of the loss of civility and goodwill in politics is the rise of Donald Trump. It is ironic that a newspaper seems to be a supporter of a man who doesn’t read and brags about not reading.
