Iran is one of my least favorite countries. Iranians have very little freedom. Their elections are a sham. The so-called guardian council, a group of fundamentalist, hard-line clerics, allows only candidates they choose to run for office. Iran funds terrorist groups.

However, Iran is a huge power with which every country must deal. The Iran nuclear deal, though far from perfect, gives the West some leverage over what that regime does. President Donald Trump's pulling out of it was a disastrous mistake.

His claim that it was a bad deal for the U.S. was only a smoke screen. His real reason is his hatred for President Barack Obama. It is revenge for Obama poking fun at Trump over his "birther" claim that Obama was not born in the U.S. at a media event several years ago. When President Obama made his joke, Trump appeared to be seething with anger. Ever since Trump was elected, he has done everything he can to undermine Obama's legacy, including junking the Paris climate accord and the Iran nuclear deal.

Trump is a narcissist who cannot stand to have fun poked at him, or even disagreement on policies. His ego is more important than the good of our country, or our relations with other nations.

Whatever Trump does is for his own self-glorification, and to get back at Obama, or anyone, especially the media, that he believes “dissed” him. He's a “wannabe” dictator who should not be called the “leader of the free world.”
