We should all be aghast at the recent rant of our president at his latest gathering of loyal supporters (“Trump mocks Ford’s testimony,” Page A2, Oct. 3). No matter to whom he is speaking, he is supposed to represent what is the best of us and foster impartiality and unity. Instead, he continued to exhibit the crudist, crassest side of his personality, railing against the “evil” critics of Brett Kavanaugh. Instead of allowing due process for both individuals involved to take place, he allowed his personal biases to shine through loud and clear.
He may have provided great entertainment for the amusement of the people attending the Mississippi rally, but there’s nothing amusing about sexual assault in its many forms; using it as a platform to curry favor is really despicable from anyone, but particularly coming from our president, it means the bar of civility and the judicial process has reached a new low.
