The Trump administration said last month that it is supporting a suit in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals to declare the entire Affordable Care Act unconstitutional. (This flies in the face of the government’s obligation to defend the statutes passed by Congress, but that’s a matter for others to comment about.) Donald Trump said that the Republicans would present a health care plan that would be better than Obamacare, and cost less.

The Republicans have never announced any of the details of such a plan, and in particular, they have not told us why their plan would be better than Obamacare. I imagine Trump will tell us why the Republican plan will cost less than Obamacare: “Mexico will pay for it.”
