House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s position on impeachment is promoting the idea that there is no point in pursuing justice unless you are sure you can win. Isn’t this the kind of thinking that perpetuates the repression of whistle-blowers and the corruption of institutional denial abuse? The extent to which this winner/loser imperative has displaced the principle of justice in Congress, reflects the extent to which the ethos of our current executive branch of government has hijacked the ethos of the speaker of the House. I am hoping that our leaders will embrace the idea that it is not only worthy to demand justice at the highest level of our government, without the guarantee of a politically successful outcome, it is imperative.
