Straight from the most powerful office on the planet, President Trump told the American people and the world that he is above the law and that he is willing do anything to win the 2020 election (“Furor follows Trump’s take on foreign help,” Page A1, June 14). Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell, enabler in chief, told Laura Ingraham of Fox News that the president “gets picked at every day,” and when questioned by reporters about Trump’s comments in an interview with George Stephanopoulos, McConnell simply walked away from the fray.
Trump’s latest idiocy provoked a rare statement from the Federal Election Commission chair, Ellen Weintraub, who said, “Let me make something 100 percent clear to the American public and anyone running for public office: It is illegal for any person to solicit, accept, or receive anything of value from a foreign national in connection with a US election. This is not a novel concept.”
Donald Trump has made a mockery of the presidency, and that is a novel concept.

Note from KBJ: Donald Trump is (already) the greatest president of my lifetime. He is making America great again, and Henry A. Lowenstein can't stand it. Guess what, Henry? We're going to elect him again! Get yourself in for therapy. Oh, wait: writing inane letters to the editor is your therapy.
