Regarding “Why, how we make election endorsements” (John Diaz, Insight, Sept. 8): Thank you for explaining the how and the why of this newspaper’s process for making endorsements of local candidates and ballot measures. Here’s a question about the when of an endorsement:
Although the 2020 presidential election is still over one year away, is it too soon to endorse whoever the Democratic Party nominee is on behalf of the many Chronicle readers (and millions of citizens) who are exhausted by the seemingly endless malicious deeds and mendacious words of the 45th U.S. president?
