Concerning “Inferno’s threat grows” (Page 1, Oct. 28): Nearly a million people are without power, hundreds of thousands of residents have been evacuated from their homes, thousands of acres are being consumed by flames and dozens of structures have burned. Given these horrific effects of climate change, I dread to think that such events are going to be considered the new normal in California.

And yet, this nation’s president calls the link between man-made activities and global warming a hoax, and encourages more offshore oil drilling, lower auto emissions standards, and burning coal and fossil fuels for energy. Like Emperor Nero in Ancient Rome, would be-Emperor Trump is fiddling while our Golden State burns.
