Only one United States senator, Republican Mitt Romney of Utah, deviated from his or her party during today's impeachment vote. CNN is calling him a "profile in courage" for standing up to his party. Suppose Joe Manchin of West Virginia (or some other Democrat) had stood up to his (or her) party by voting "not guilty" on an article of impeachment. Would CNN be calling him (or her) a "profile in courage"? I think you know the answer. CNN's talking heads wouldn't know a principle if it hit them in the face.
