It puzzles me that the Republican senators who are part of "the world’s greatest deliberative body” are not able to act as such. How can two people, President Donald Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, have such bullying power over them? Doesn’t anything matter anymore? What happened to our Pledge of Allegiance? What happened to the oath they took before this trial? Unfortunately, witnesses were not called. Even calling former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter, even though they are not relevant to the case, would have helped to bring closure to this matter of impeachment.

Now that this is nearly past, perhaps censure of Trump is in order. It is the duty of all the senators to make their judgment in accordance of their oath of office and their sworn oath to judge impartially.

I am worried for our democracy and the future of our country for my children and grandchildren, and all of my fellow Americans.

Note from KBJ: It was the House's job to call witnesses, Joan. Why didn't it?
