It seems obvious that President Donald Trump wants to be re-elected so he can remain center-stage in the American consciousness for another four years. But, based on his recent actions, it also may be possible that he is doing everything he can to lose re-election.

Consider the recent rally in Tulsa, Okla., an unbelievably bad idea given the spike in COVID-19 cases. Or look at the Trump administration’s efforts to invalidate Obamacare with no apparent plan as a replacement.

He has attacked the Black Lives Matter protests, staged an outrageous Bible photo-op and fired inspectors general who dare question the decisions of him or his cronies. He promised to drain the swamp, but has filled his administration with followers beholden to his own selfish interests.

If Mr. Trump loses re-election in November, rest assured that he will blame it on some combination of the pandemic and election fraud. It is never his fault.
