Sept. 23 article, “US death toll from virus hits 200,000.”
I read in the Statesman recently that the United States has over 200,000 dead from COVID-19. That is equivalent to having wiped Amarillo, population 199,371, off the face of the earth.
Other comparable cities:
– Little Rock, Ark.: The capital and largest city in Arkansas, population 197,312
– Salt Lake City, Utah: The capital and largest city in Utah, population 200,567
– Tallahassee, Fla.: The capital of Florida population 194,500
While some U.S. COVID-19 deaths were inevitable there could have been far fewer. South Korea has had 395 deaths and about one-sixth of the population of the U.S.
President Trump’s willful inaction, misdirection and downplaying of COVID-19 severity has gotten the U.S. to this excessive level of death. If terrorists had killed everyone in Akron, Ohio, population 197,597, or Rochester, N.Y., population 205,695, wouldn’t the citizens of the United States be demanding action against those responsible? Take decisive action on Nov. 3 with your votes.
