Donald Trump: the president who was going to do something.
He was going to overturn Roe v. Wade, bring back coal jobs and build a border wall that Mexico would pay for. Zero for three.
He was going to bring down the federal deficit, raise the GDP to 3% or more and sustain job and wage growth via tax cuts. Zero for six, and that was pre-pandemic.
He would de-nuclearize North Korea and stop Iran’s progress toward nuclear weapons. Zero for eight.
He would eliminate Obamacare and coverage for pre-existing conditions, and reduce funding of Social Security and Medicare. Zero for 12, thank goodness.
He was going to drain the swamp. With over a dozen associates and supporters indicted, others with minimal qualifications in leadership positions and ties to communists and accused child-sex traffickers, that’s zero for 13.
He was going to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution. Those weren’t his words, but he did repeat them at his inauguration. Using his office to enrich himself personally and politically makes it zero for 14.
He was going to put America first. Instead he has rejected American intelligence, helping Russia go from relative isolation to a greater international influence. Our president is neither feared nor respected worldwide. Zero for 15.
He was going to provide his tax returns, reduce drug prices, expose voter fraud and defeat COVID-19. Zero for over 200,000 and counting.
Donald Trump wants another four years. Perhaps he has profited—and America has sacrificed—enough.
