My initial reaction to President Donald Trump’s refusal to accept the results of last week’s national election was to just consider it more bad behavior on his part. Being a sore loser is typical of his performance as chief executive.
But now I see things differently: When Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said at a news conference this week that he is not accepting the election results, he is skirting treason. What does it say to the rest of the world when our leading diplomat broadcasts to the world his lack of faith in our election system?
Every Republican has a moral obligation to denounce this scandalous, anti-American behavior. Three cheers for Congressman Adam Kinzinger! He’d have my vote if I lived in his congressional district.
