As I sit here on Dec. 20, I’m watching 18.2 million infections of COVID-19 and 324,849 regrettable deaths. I’m befuddled by the absence of comment from the Oval Office that the American people need and deserve. All Americans deserve more from a president than silence on infections, death, a COVID-19 stimulus package and a vicious Russian cyberattack on our nation’s security. Silence—nothing but silence.
Actually as I write this, he finally commented on the cyberattack: He again defends Russia!
Maybe there’s a silver lining here; possibly our mute great leader has had an epiphany. Could you imagine that he has come to the harsh, hard-to-swallow fact that he now shoulders some responsibility for the “Democratic hoax” that is ravaging our country? Is it possible that he’s contemplating that he should have shared with everyone the horrid, dangerous facts of this virus as he graciously did with Bob Woodward? At this moment, the “China virus” or “Democratic hoax” no longer exists—it is now the Trump virus, the Trump infections and the Trump deaths!
Is it possible his 40-watt lightbulb lit up and now it makes sense that a mask mandate would have saved lives? Millions more would have obeyed the dear leader including the Proud Boys, the Klan, QAnon, Hitler Youth and those inflicted with the new malady of Trump naivete syndrome.
None of the above really matters; it’s all conjecture. Donald Trump is busy pardoning felons and preparing to pardon those who will be felons in the future months.
P.S. Donald told us the virus would be gone in April—he just forgot the year!
