I rode today for the first time in 2021. Just 21.6 miles. The wind chill was 32° Fahrenheit when I left the house and 33° when I returned. As you can see from the log immediately above (click to enlarge), I had a good year in 2020. In fact, it was my second-best year ever, as far as total mileage is concerned. I pedaled 7,000 miles. Two years ago, I pedaled 7,500.1 miles. I started riding in 1981, so this is my 40th year of cycling. My goal for 2021 is to average 20 miles per day. That will give me 7,300 miles. My proudest achievement in 2020 was riding at least 20 miles on 35 consecutive days, and 44 of 45. I rode in every kind of weather this year, from bitter cold to oppressive heat and humidity to gale-force winds to pouring rain. I broke no bones.
