The vote was taken and it was determined that Congress could proceed with the impeachment trial of Trump, even if he is no longer in office.
In light of that vote and of the evidence presented, the only logical conclusion is that the president inspired and called for the insurrection against the U.S. government.
That cannot be condoned, or it will empower future presidents and administrations to take the law into their own hands.
We are a country of laws and those laws must be honored and enforced or we will cease to exist as an elective democracy. President Trump deserves to be stripped of all residual powers and benefits of a past president.
I have urged our state senators to vote for the impeachment of Donald Trump. I urge others to take these same steps.
