Yesterday evening, Katherine and I watched Citizenfour (2014), a documentary about Edward Snowden. It contains a great deal of footage from the hotel room in Hong Kong in which Snowden met with filmmaker Laura Poitras and journalist Glenn Greenwald. Snowden's objective was to inform the world of the mass surveillance being carried out by the United States government. Snowden wanted to obtain asylum in Ecuador following his revelations, but his United States passport was revoked by the Obama administration while he was in Russia. He remains in Russia to this day. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who wants to understand what the United States government has been doing since 11 September 2001.
