  • For many years, the GOP has worked hard to scare people into voting for them. But Trump's latest effort to distract us from looking at the corruption of his administration is taking fear to a new level.

Could this nightmare president be beating the drums of war with North Korea to distract us from his Russian ties and the total incompetence of his cabinet? No doubt, North Korea is a problem child. But there are ways to work to solve those issue besides bombing them (and part of nearby South Korea) to smithereens.

Is it time to start showing the "duck and cover" movies to children again?

    Craig Walker, Camas

Note from KBJ: I post letters from half a dozen newspapers. The overwhelming majority of letters are not just anti-Trump but viscerally so. I find this hilarious. These people (such as Craig Walker) fielded historically bad (indeed, laughable) candidates (Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders). Hillary Clinton is as corrupt as the day is long and Bernie Sanders lives in Cloud Cuckoo Land. To this day, leftists do not understand why Donald Trump won the election—and why he will win again in 2020. How much of it can Craig Walker take before his pea brain explodes?

  • In response to Richard S. Kostkas’s Aug. 10 letter, “Trump Encounters Too Much Resistance”: I am amazed how the supporters of Donald Trump conveniently forget how they treated President Barack Obama. In fact, based on how Mr. Kostkas feels Mr. Trump is being treated, one could just substitute Obama for Trump in his letter and get a very clear picture of how the Trump supporters responded to President Obama.

His last sentence is very telling: “And it will be more difficult for his successor, with a new standard for what is accepted in mainstream media and public comment, on what you can say and how you can attack a standing president.” Really? Isn’t it Mr. Trump who changed how we respond in America? The list of offending comments and unacceptable reactions from Mr. Trump is too long to list here. The new standard is a direct result of this administration.

No former president, Democrat or Republican, has ever behaved like this president. The disrespect to the people of the United States comes directly from this White House, and it is shameful.

  • We ALL must be united & condemn all that hate stands for. There is no place for this kind of violence in America. Lets come together as one!
