Can someone tell me why it’s illegal in some cities in Missouri to shoot fireworks, but in the entire state it is now legal for anyone to carry a concealed firearm? I just don’t understand it.

Note from KBJ: I don't know whether it should be illegal to "shoot fireworks," Toni, but the reason your state allows law-abiding citizens to carry firearms is that it deters, and therefore prevents, crime. Are you opposed to that? If you disarm law-abiding citizens, who will have guns? Why, the criminals! You should thank your lucky stars that your state has the law that it does, for it protects you and your family every day.

Here are highlights from Stage 9 of the Tour de France. Robert Gesink, Geraint Thomas, and Richie Porte are out of the Tour with injuries sustained in crashes. Here is video of Porte's crash. The crashes obscured the best story of the day, which is Rigoberto Uran's victory. He had only one gear at the end as a result of a damaged derailleur. I believe his bike was damaged in the Porte crash. See here for the story.

It's a great time to be a conservative. Liberalism is dead. Progressivism destroyed it. The problem with progressivism is that its candidates can't get elected. They can't get elected because they hate the United States, its history, its traditions, its culture, its values, and its people. What I find deliciously ironic is that the Muslims who are being embraced by the Left will destroy leftists as soon as they (the Muslims) get power. The first to be beheaded will be feminists, homosexuals, and Marxists.

CNN is a joke. Whenever I need a laugh, I tune in for a few minutes.

Watching the beginning of the July Fourth celebration over Seattle on TV, there was nothing to indicate Seattle was celebrating the Fourth of July because the music was not even something our family would listen to.

Changing the channel and watching how the Fourth of July was being celebrated in New York City, it was all about our United States becoming independent and the military men and women who fought for our freedom. The music was about how America came into being, and the men and women from the West Point Glee Club who sang those beautiful words left me in tears, knowing my dad fought for our country in France, in World War I. The New York City celebration showed young men and women with their families and some in uniform cheering the music and fireworks. Thank You, New York City, for knowing why we celebrate the Fourth of July.

Shame on whoever put on the Seattle fireworks display for not doing what the Fourth of July was meant to celebrate.
