  • The G 20 Summit was a great success for the U.S. – Explained that the U.S. must fix the many bad trade deals it has made. Will get done!

  • Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)Yesterday evening, Katherine and I watched Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014), which I recently acquired on DVD. This is the second of three Apes movies in the latest incarnation, the first being Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) and the third being War for the Planet of the Apes (2017). The third of these is about to be released. (We will see it at a theater soon.) Katherine is a good sport to watch these movies with me. I watched the original Apes movies many years ago and enjoyed them. The Mark Wahlberg remake in 2001 was not good, though I purchased it anyway. While watching the movie yesterday, I couldn't help but draw comparisons to the encounters between Europeans and Native Americans. Native Americans got horses and weapons from whites, as did the apes in the movie. One difference is that the humans didn't give apes alcohol. Maybe that'll occur in the third movie.

  • Trump won the 2016 election by an overwhelming majority of the Electoral College in spite of losing the popular vote by almost 3 million people.

All of the U.S. government’s major intelligence agencies have reported that Russians hacked our electoral process trying to influence the outcome.

Yet, while Trump now insists on investigating American citizens for voter fraud, he has never condemned Russians actions nor has he offered a plan to protect against Russian (or any other interference) in our elections in the future.

Has he considered the consequences if the election fraud inquiries prove that Russian interference is the reason he won the White House?

I lived through Watergate and admired Richard Nixon, not for what he did but for how he tried to manipulate the political system to avoid his ultimate disgrace. I watched Richard Nixon’s political savvy and believe me, Mr. Trump is no Richard Nixon.

    JAY ARNOLD,

    COCONUT GROVE

Note from KBJ: What does "hacked our electoral process" mean? Do you know, Jay? Your candidate lost the election. Deal with it.

  • Karl Rove proves that he still doesn't understand Donald Trump's success. Rove is the man who advised George W. Bush to refrain from replying to his critics. Good work, Karl! You moron. Politics is not checkers; it's war by another name. If conservatives don't respond in kind to leftist thugs, they will never prevail. Isn't that right, President McCain? Isn't that right, President Romney? One thing is clear. Rove and his ilk have had their day in the sun. They are history. They ran the Republican Party into the ground by focusing on wealthy donors and consultants instead of ordinary, hard-working people. From now on, the Republican Party will consist of backroom brawlers like Trump. Bye-bye, milquetoast Karl!
