  • To the editor:

Trump has completed his first 100 days in office, and The Times has published at least that many attacks on him since his inauguration in the form of news reports, opinion pieces, letters and skewed headlines.

In my 84 years of reading and 74 of writing, I have not seen such attacks on the leader of any country over the first 100 days.

The Times and others frequently use negative words. “Unfit,” “bigot,” “liar” and “narcissist” are common. Every comment or action he takes gets blasted by the media and the left. This is opposition for opposition’s sake, and it is not helping the nation.

What’s next? If Trump breathes, would you say he’s polluting the air? When is this Trump-bashing going to stop? When will these elements discover something positive and start giving the man a chance?

  • Bicycle 7Today's 34.5-mile bike ride was wonderful. The weather in North Texas is superb: It was 71º Fahrenheit when I left the house and 81º when I returned, with glorious sunshine during the entire ride. I saw no snakes or bobcats today, which is unusual. The trail was littered with leaves, twigs, and branches after two days of high winds, so I had to go slower than usual on the curves. Even so, I averaged 16.52 miles per hour. The only bad thing about today's ride is that I had a flat tire; but I was in no hurry, so I didn't mind. I replaced the tube, inflated it with my air canister, and continued on my way. I had a good April on the bike, pedaling 448.6 miles in 13 rides. Today's ride gives me 1,756.8 miles for the year.

  • You can't compare anything to ObamaCare because ObamaCare is dead. Dems want billions to go to Insurance Companies to bail out donors….New

  • The photo with the caption, “Anarchists march in 2016” and blurb with the headline, “How will you spend May Day?” that The Seattle Times has been running on page B1 strongly suggests that May Day in Seattle is all about anarchists running amok in the streets.

I object strongly to this false characterization. The purpose of the May Day March for Workers and Immigrants Rights is to focus attention on the rights of immigrants and workers at a critical time when those rights are under attack by the Trump administration. Supporting those rights is what a sanctuary city should be doing.

Is it the Times’ intention to dissuade people from joining the march through fear of violence from a small minority of hothead anarchists who try to co-opt the peaceful and legitimate efforts of the overwhelming majority? It’s like the World Trade Organization protests all over again: The anarchists got all the press and all the attention.
