  • Blizzard of Ozz (1980). This song is about Aleister Crowley, "the wickedest man in the world." Apparently, Crowley pronounced his name so as to rhyme with "crow." Ozzy pronounces it so as to rhyme with "owl." Here are the lyrics.

  • Liberals and Democrats are shooting themselves in the foot by constantly criticizing President Trump. By making outrageous, over-the-top comments such as those by Herald columnist Leonard Pitts, Meryl Streep, Maxine Waters, Nancy Pelosi and others—comparing him to brown shirts, Nazis, and the Third Reich, in addition to demanding his impeachment.

Democrats have been going ballistic since losing the election. They need to get over it. But beyond that, they are disenfranchising the overwhelming moderate majority by their offensive and disrespectful rhetoric.

    GILBERT SCHWARTZ, AVENTURA

Note from KBJ: Right on, brother. The real war is between the mainstream media and ordinary American people, whom they despise. Trump is merely the representative of the people. Others who despise ordinary Americans are academics, entertainers, and bureaucrats. These professional despisers cannot fathom how someone as "uncouth" and "retrograde" as Donald Trump got elected. Keep in mind as well that progressives believe in progress. They think history has a direction. As time goes by, humans become morally better. To the progressive mind, conservatives are either stupid (if they don't understand history's trajectory) or perverse (if they understand the trajectory but reject it). You don't argue with stupid or perverse people; you try to crush them. Crushing includes "re-education," character assassination (a.k.a. smearing), and, if all else fails, murder. The end justifies the means.

  • Hi Keith,

In case you haven’t heard, Tom Regan died yesterday afternoon. Thought you’d want to know. I published a short post about Regan’s passing and his influence in our blog “Animal Ethics”.

Perhaps, you’ll want to call attention to his death and his philosophical significance in your personal blog, as well.

    Best,

    Mylan

  • Geoffrey ScarreTrue serenity [according to Epicurus] consists in the joyous recognition that one is living the style of life most suitable to human nature—calm, simple and impeded neither by runaway desires nor by serious distresses of body or mind.

  • Law 2If Donald Trump is reelected president in 2020, as seems likely, Republicans will have won seven of 11 elections (63.6%) and nine of 14 (64.2%). Can you say "dominance"? When you consider that Barack Obama was elected because of his skin color (many whites voted for him because they felt guilty for being white), the dominance is even greater. President Trump's second Supreme Court appointment (following Neil Gorsuch) will give the Court a law-abiding majority for at least 10 years. A third appointment will ensure that this country remains as it was founded for at least 30 years, by which time I will be in my 90s. I'm going to enjoy my retirement, not least because I will get to watch progressives (including progressive law professors) act like petulant children. Is there anything more enjoyable?
