What do you get when you cross Robert Nozick with Dave Barry? Kurt Schlichter! He's my new favorite columnist.

To the Editor:
Re “As Fake News Spreads Lies, More Readers Shrug at Truth” (front page, Dec. 7):
Perhaps the checks and balances inherent in the Constitution make it possible for our country to survive a demagogic executive. But American democracy absolutely cannot survive a citizenry that can’t tell the difference between what’s true and what’s false, that can’t be bothered to find out, and that doesn’t even think it matters.
It just can’t.

Note from KBJ: The only fake news I've read in the past few years has been in the pages of the New York Times. The Left's definition of "fake news" is "anything published by a nonleftist organization."

Here is Ann Coulter's latest column. I agree with Coulter that Donald Trump must build a wall (or the functional equivalent thereof) between Mexico and the United States. It was the main theme of his campaign. If he breaks his promise, he will not be forgiven.

Katherine and I watched Joe Dirt (2001) yesterday—excuse me, Joe Deer-TAY. I had seen only a few minutes of it many years ago, while channel surfing. The movie is hilarious: good, clean, juvenile fun. I love David Spade's droll delivery, as in this clip.
