Yesterday evening, Katherine and I watched Robinson Crusoe (1954) on Amazon Prime. I read the novel recently and was pleased to see that this movie tracked it fairly closely. Another movie we watched, starring Aidan Quinn, took liberties with the text. What is the point of that? If you can watch only one version of the book, watch the 1954 version.

After saying “I gave my best to you,” as I had promised, I sat on my RV's horn for a minute when President Biden completed the oath of office and officially became president of the United States. A neighbor, who is a Sul Ross University police officer, knocked on the door. She was worried something was wrong and needed help.

"No, Biden's been inaugurated," I said, and emotionally shared my promise with her. I took down my small Biden lawn sign when the ceremony was completed, once I was assured that Trump was no longer president. The bumper sticker on the rear tire cover of the RAV4 remains in-place.

Have you stopped sobbing yet? Not me.
