I find it the height of obscenity that Vice President Mike Pence and Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell were among the first Americans to receive a COVID-19 vaccine when they have all but ignored the pandemic for the last 10 months.

They fiddled while we burned. They allowed millions to fall ill and thousands to die, as those who wore masks and followed the safety guidelines were ridiculed by their supporters. Their arrogance and lack of leadership have caused way too many unnecessary deaths.

And now, they are among the first to be vaccinated. They should have been put at the back of the line.

Distribution of both vaccines is going very smoothly. Amazing how many people are being vaccinated, record numbers. Our Country, and indeed the World, will soon see the great miracle of what the Trump Administration has accomplished. They said it couldn’t be done!!!

The Christmas season is one of joy, merriment, family get-togethers and goodwill toward man. However, this year we shall not be celebrating the best of times since the nation is being profoundly tested by the pandemic.

There are high unemployment and business closures, widespread hunger and despair, looming evictions and mortgage foreclosures, millions in the U.S. who are ill with COVID-19 and those who have perished from it.

Also there are too many health providers worn to the bone treating the coronavirus, and hospitals running out of room and supplies. There has been a profound lack of leadership in our nation’s capital in handling the pandemic and it is hoped that the new administration will institute measures to address these vexing challenges.

We hope that expertise will enable us to truly celebrate all holidays together, not just virtually, in the not-too-distant future.

We have reached the solstice: winter in the Northern Hemisphere, summer in the Southern Hemisphere. The amount of daylight will increase from here on out.
