I started this blog 17 years ago, on 5 November 2003. Much has changed since then. In fact, blogs seem to have gone the way of the horse-drawn carriage. You still see them from time to time, but they've been replaced by newer technologies, such as automobiles. In the case of blogging, the new technologies are Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and other forms of "social media." I'm pretty sure that I haven't missed a day of blogging in 17 years. How long this continues remains to be seen.

Here is Kurt Schlichter's latest column.

We find the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette editorial board’s endorsement of President Donald Trump to be untenable (Nov. 1 editorial, “The Man and the Record”). The editorial asks, can we separate the man from the record, and the answer is clearly “no.”

Character truly matters. He has been a horrible example for our children to emulate and, yes, an embarrassment to our nation, especially to the rest of the world. Due to him, racism is on the rise and he has succeeded in dividing us as a nation, instead of trying to bring us together. He doesn’t care about that.

Lastly, his handling of the pandemic is his worst failure, with the number of cases and deaths rising significantly now (despite his recent claims of “turning the corner”). Joe Biden will take the pandemic much more seriously and he will restore civility. This matters to us. And the economy under Mr. Biden, despite the editorial’s gloomy prediction, will be better—as his plan makes clear.

To the editor:

Our society is very sick.

No healthy society would give almost half its votes to a pathological liar, a man credibly accused of sexual assault, a phony “populist” champion of the ultra wealthy, an instigator of racism who is appreciated by neo-Nazis and other white nationalists, and a narcissist who cares only about himself and certainly not for the country.

That Trump could garner almost 50% of the votes is a symptom of an oligarchic, diseased society.
