In a recent letter Elwin Haddix lamented the president has not been shown adequate respect. If, as has been said, respect is earned, Trump has received far more respect than he deserves.

This occupant of the White House has shown disrespect if not open contempt for scientists, medical professionals, educators, environmentalists, foreign dignitaries, the press, women, racial minorities, immigrants, political enemies and virtually anyone not willing to bolster his fragile ego or mimic his lies.

No respect earned, none given.
