I had to share this so we can all enjoy it.

One night this week, Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon were having their usual banter on CNN at 9 p.m. as Cuomo’s hour ends and Lemon’s begins, when for the first time they quoted someone using the word “trumpery” to describe President Donald Trump’s latest antics. I thought, “Oh my gosh! I had forgotten trumpery is a word.”

Here is the definition of “trumpery,” which seems to have been perfectly designed for our president, although it predates him and I am quoting from my 1965 Webster’s Dictionary:

“Trumpery: something without use or value; rubbish; trash; worthless stuff; nonsense; twaddle.” “Twaddle,” by the way, means “trivial or foolish speech; nonsense.”

I can’t wait to start using it: “Oh, that’s just more trumpery and twaddle tweeted by our temporary president.”

Note from KBJ: All presidents are temporary, William. Donald Trump, like Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Hussein Obama before him, will serve eight years and then get on with his life. In the meantime, he's making America great again. Let's just say that in the game of poker that is American politics, he holds the trump card.

I did not realize that the “emperor’s new clothes” come in a variety of colors and styles.

How Republicans can accuse the Democrats of wanting to “pack the court” is astounding. Isn’t the rushed confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett, in its way, a brazen attempt to pack the Supreme Court?

And where is the mythical health care plan that the Trump administration has been touting for four years? They intend to replace the Affordable Care Act with what? Millions may well lose protection for preexisting conditions.

And as the great battle goes on to contain and defeat the coronavirus, the president and his enablers keep asking, “What virus?”

Note from KBJ: "Packing the Court" means increasing the number of judges and then filling the new seats with partisans, Gordon. I suspect you know this, but you're being dishonest in the hope of fooling people. No Republican, to my knowledge, has advocated packing the Court. Only when Democrats can't win presidential elections do they resort to such desperate measures. The end justifies the means.

Donald Trump's approval rating is 52%. Barack Obama's approval rating at the same point of his presidency (22 October 2012) was 50%.
