My most recent birthday present, from Katherine: a jersey with the flag of our beloved Scotland. Click to enlarge. The heat index was 100 degrees when I left the house for today's ride. It was 107 degrees when I returned, almost three hours later. I felt strong as a bull.

  • ….horrible BLM chant, “Pigs In A Blanket, Fry ‘Em Like Bacon”. Maybe our GREAT Police, who have been neutralized and scorned by a mayor who hates & disrespects them, won’t let this symbol of hate be affixed to New York’s greatest street. Spend this money fighting crime instead!

  • To the editor:

It’s clear that wearing masks to slow the spread of COVID-19 has become politicized. Since the president won’t model good behavior, let’s give his supporters some new swag.

Will some creative, entrepreneurial person please start mass-producing red masks that say, “Make America Great Again”?

    Kathleen Zakoski, Carlsbad

Note from KBJ: If you want to wear a mask, Kathleen, wear one. Leave the rest of us, including President Trump, alone.

Here is a scene from today's 31.4-mile ride. Click to enlarge. The year is now half over. I have 3,457.4 miles, which puts me in position for 7,000 in 2020. That would be my second-best mileage year ever, at the age of 63. I pedaled 600 miles this month, which is an average of 20 miles per day. I rode 23 times in 30 days, so my average ride was 26.08 miles.
