  • The Left is making it costly to speak. If you wear a Trump hat, put a Trump bumper sticker on your car, or say something favorable to Trump on social media, the mob will come after you. They will try to get you fired; they will intimidate you and your family; they will try to close down your business.

Many Americans are sick of this. They remain silent, but they are fuming, and they will express themselves at the ballot box on 3 November. Thank God for the secret ballot. It's the only thing standing between you and totalitarianism.

    Vote!

  • Just stop the bullying! We shouldn’t have to compete for peace.

The president models ignorant machismo, blame and disdain; he holds a Bible and demands civil war. If we’d all stop listening to him, he’d stop blustering.

Prejudiced cops hold power. If we’d strip their power, the police who understand would feel free to connect, protect and serve.

Rather than ordering militia to attack peaceful marchers in legitimate protests, just quietly contain only the destroyers, give them no press, no public face. Who disagrees with the protesters, who’d hijack their cause? Bullies.

The COVID-19 bullies, unscathed (yet) by COVID-19, demand immediate carousing, happily risking everyone’s health. They flaunt maskless faces with disdainful smirks, refusing to give sidewalk space to masked individuals. Enough! Life (health) isn’t a competition!

We’ve become a nation of bullies and bullied.

If we had a real president, we’d all sport masks as a community effort against the real enemy. We’d all pull together to care about each other and safely patronize each other’s businesses. We’d redistribute the wealth to provide for everyone’s needs. We’d eschew bullies together. Just stop the bullies!

Note from KBJ: Wear a mask if you want, Audrey. Stop bullying the rest of us into complying with your rules. By the way, Donald Trump is the real president. I know you believe that Hillary Clinton is president, but she's not. She was an awful candidate and is a deplorable human being.

  • Selma (2014)Yesterday evening, Katherine and I watched Selma (2014), which we rented on Amazon Prime. I know a lot about the events in Birmingham in 1963, having taught Martin Luther King's famous "Letter from Birmingham Jail" many times, but until yesterday I didn't know much about the events in Selma in 1965. The movie was excellent, with great acting, powerful scenes, and poignant music. King is one of my heroes. I love the fact that he emphasized nonviolent disobedience. King understood that change is quicker and more durable when it appeals to conscience rather than to fear. Today's thugs have a lot to learn from him.

    Here is the trailer.
