Once Minneapolis abolishes its police force, it'll become the home of murderers, rapists, kidnappers, arsonists, larcenists, robbers, burglars, and, last but not least, pedophiles. Life in the once-great city will become solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short.

The killing of George Floyd reminds me of an older “pandemic”—racism. Floyd’s murder is the most recent evil caused by it, like the genocide of Native Americans, slavery, segregation and countless lynchings. As these atrocities keep happening, we in the white community can no longer dismiss them as “just a few bad apples.”
It is clear they are being enabled by the system and its members; consciously or unconsciously. Former Officer Derek Chauvin was a 19-year officer with 18 “incidents” on his record. Why was he still there? In other incidents, officers involved were fired from previous police departments. Weren’t they ever vetted before hiring?
Our political institutions don’t seem to work for marginalized communities such as people of color. In states where Republicans hold power, they enact voter-suppression laws aimed at people of color.
Both political parties used gerrymandering to neutralize the black vote. Our Supreme Court recently said they can’t stop gerrymandering. In 2013, the Supreme Court gutted voting rights protection in the Voting Rights Act. After that, states added voting restrictions impacting people of color.
Congress has done nothing to fix the Voting Rights Act. President Donald Trump has demonstrated racist stereotyping and bigoted policies. What’s left that’s trustworthy? Join together in protest to demand justice and equality for all people.

The lockdown was an attempt to subjugate the American people. It's over. Back to work; back to school; back to churches, restaurants, and theaters; back to normal life.

I’m worried about the safety of Gov. J.B. Pritzker and the other 49 governors across the country. It appears President Donald Trump has cornered the market on vicious dogs and ominous weapons. Since the president has “the most vicious dogs” and “the most ominous weapons,” governors might have to settle for simply vicious dogs and routinely ominous weapons.
If they don’t act quickly, there may be only angry dogs available or lethal weapons that aren’t ominous at all. Most governors are also unlikely to have a panic room to hide in, like the president. I realize it seems unlikely that someone would encourage angry armed mobs to attack capitals across the country. (Who would be so reckless or treasonous?) But if it happened, governors wouldn’t have access to the same defenses or hidy-holes as the president. We should protect our governors.

Note from KBJ: I know you're trying to be funny, Ross, but you're not. Why do leftists have no sense of humor? Why so dour? Is it because you're miserable? Perhaps you're miserable because you know that conservatives are happy. Life is good!
