  • To the editor:

Whether the Democratic Party leadership is afraid or just too comfortable in its position, I reject its argument that commencing impeachment proceedings against President Trump is not the proper action to take.

I understand the challenges, but I believe the only way to defeat Trump will be through prompt impeachment proceedings that shed light on all his misdeeds in a manner that we can all understand. From what I have seen, his misconduct is very different from President Clinton’s in the 1990s.

We should not let Trump or his supporters intimidate us from taking the right course of action. They may be loud, but I believe that there are more of us who think that his actions deserve this scrutiny.

  • If the totally Corrupt Media was less corrupt, I would be up by 15 points in the polls based on our tremendous success with the economy, maybe Best Ever! If the Corrupt Media was actually fair, I would be up by 25 points. Nevertheless, despite the Fake News, we’re doing great!

  • Just when I thought Donald Trump couldn’t stoop any lower in his tirades about perceived enemies, he surprised me again (“Trump says he didn’t know plan for warship: Still takes swipes at Sen. McCain,” Page A4, May 31). In his recent chat with the press outside the White House, he reminded us of his utter dislike, or hatred, of the late John McCain.

McCain was a true patriot and war hero who was imprisoned and tortured for years during the Vietnam War. When he was finally released and returned to this country, he continued to devote his life to the betterment of the United States by becoming a US representative and then a senator. To have Trump, who himself received five military deferments, disparage this distinguished man is just unacceptable and beneath the dignity of the office of the president of the United States.

I consider Trump an embarrassment to this country. He has made us the laughingstock of the world.

Note from KBJ: You have it backward, Patricia. John McCain was the embarrassment to this country. Since when does getting captured by the enemy make you a war hero? Thank God for Donald Trump!
