Re “White House takes aim at abortion” (Page 6, Feb. 23): Let me let you in on a little secret: Planned Parenthood and other Title X offices work to prevent abortions every day by offering patients access to excellent contraception. The abortion rate has been plunging over the last two decades because of the efforts of Title X clinics working together with their patients to prevent unplanned pregnancy. If the Trump administration wanted fewer abortions, it would support Title X clinics rather than restricting their activities.
These new regulations attempt to get between women and their health care providers, which does not serve the interests of patients. This new rule is clearly aimed at Planned Parenthood, which serves about 40 percent of Title X patients nationwide. Making it harder for Planned Parenthood to serve patients robs women of the tools they use to prevent abortions.
We should recognize what the Title X rule changes represent: a shameful attempt by the Trump administration to control women’s access to health care.

Note from KBJ: We should recognize what the Title X rule changes represent: a noble attempt by the Trump administration to protect the most vulnerable members of society.

Michael Cohen’s book manuscript shows that he committed perjury on a scale not seen before. He must have forgotten about his book when he testified. What does Hillary Clinton’s lawyer, Lanny Davis, say about this one. Is he being paid by Crooked Hillary. Using her lawyer?

Regarding “Battered Bay Area prepares for floods” (Page 1, Feb. 27): Only a few months ago, Bay Area residents were struggling to cope with raging wildfires that caused significant property damage, dozens of fatalities, and a sea of people wearing face masks due to hazardous air quality. Years of drought were taking a severe toll on California. Now comes a front page headline, which describes a wet and unrelenting storm causing power outages, flooding, and evacuations along the Russian River. These dramatic events are surely consequences of climate change. Those who believe the president’s contention that global warming is a hoax need to open their eyes and see what’s going on around us. Next year, we need to elect a new chief executive who believes that taking action to address climate change is a top priority.
