  • To the editor:

The framers provided a simple solution for a problem like this one: The president’s veto can be overridden by a two-thirds vote by each house of Congress.

It is time that the Republicans in Congress recognize their duty to the country exceeds their loyalty to Trump’s irrational and insane form of governing. Trump is a sinking ship, and the Republicans need to untie their boats or risk being taken down with him in 2020.

It’s time for Republicans to do the right thing.

  • I am in the Oval Office & just gave out a 115 mile long contract for another large section of the Wall in Texas. We are already building and renovating many miles of Wall, some complete. Democrats must end Shutdown and finish funding. Billions of Dollars, & lives, will be saved!

  • To the editor:

The emperor has no clothes. It would take a willfully blind eye to ignore the mounting evidence of our president’s disregard for the law and our security.

The president is willing to shut down the government, pull out of Syria and greatly draw down our forces in Afghanistan. He has ignored our friends and given comfort to our adversaries.

Americans have come together in past times of crisis. Now is the time to cast aside partisanship. I appeal to Congress to apply the methods provided in the Constitution for a peaceful removal of our disruptive president.

    We are better than this.

  • Trek Domane 5.2Mission accomplished! Today's 43.1-mile ride gives me 7,324 miles for the year, 24 more than I needed to average 20 miles per day for 2018. With eight days left in the month, it's a shame to ease up, so I set another goal: 7,500 miles. The weather forecast isn't good, and it's holiday season, but I'll do my best. Wish me luck.

  • We signed two pieces of major legislation this week, Criminal Justice Reform and the Farm Bill. These are two Big Deals, but all the Fake News Media wants to talk about is “the mistake” of bringing our young people back home from the Never Ending Wars. It all began 19 years ago!
