  • So funny to see little Adam Schitt (D-CA) talking about the fact that Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker was not approved by the Senate, but not mentioning the fact that Bob Mueller (who is highly conflicted) was not approved by the Senate!

  • I am appalled that President Donald Trump did not show up to commemorate those who gave their lives at Belleau Wood. His chief of staff, retired Gen. John Kelly, a seasoned Marine and no stranger to inclement weather, was there. Trump could have put on his Make America Great Again baseball cap in case the umbrellas failed to protect him.

I wonder how this will play out in the red states in the Midwest where most of Trump’s votes come from and where many parents have sons and daughters now in the service.

Next year will mark the 75th anniversary of the D-Day Normandy landings, another trip to France. Who will Trump send to take his place?

Note from KBJ: Trump will do just fine in the red states, Bill. Go back to your shuffleboard game.

  • Watching U.S. politics for the last several months while studying the Danish education system in Copenhagen has been surreal. I interned in the Senate last spring and thought I knew what was going on in D.C., but seeing everything unfold from abroad puts the full extent of Washington and Pennsylvania dysfunction in perspective. Danes obviously know the names of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, but they also know Brett Kavanaugh, Ted Cruz, Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan and Robert Mueller.

Europe wants America to protect Mr. Mueller because the uncertainty in the U.S. is felt in every single country. They don’t trust Congress to be fair, they don’t trust the Supreme Court to be unbiased and they fear the international conflicts caused by Donald Trump’s rhetoric.

I have partisan views, but I truly believe they are irrelevant when considering the role of the special counsel. Legislation protecting Mr. Mueller only stands to benefit Democrats and Republicans just as the sanctions on Russia were politically popular for both sides.

America saw Jeff Sessions’ firing coming for months, but you had other priorities. The tax bill, the shutdown, Devin Nunes’ memo, Parkland, DACA, Justice Kavanaugh, Pittsburgh; all excruciatingly important debates that will have long legacies, but now we need to hold Mr. Trump accountable. Whether he did collude with Russia or not, Americans, politicians, and the world deserve to know.

The midterms are over and it’s time to focus on the next two years. Please protect Mr. Mueller’s investigation from partisan destruction.

  • People are not being told that the Republican Party is on track to pick up two seats in the U.S. Senate, and epic victory: 53 to 47. The Fake News Media only wants to speak of the House, where the Midterm results were better than other sitting Presidents.
