  • To the editor:

If it is possible for this president to reach a new low, he succeeded with his invitation to rapper Kanye West to join him in the Oval Office for a public spectacle.

At a time when countless Florida residents have had their lives turned upside down by Hurricane Michael, Trump set this national calamity on the back burner in order to engage in a sideshow. For a change, it was the president who was listening as someone else rambled incoherently. Because West is a fan of the president, his bizarre behavior at the White House was just fine, apparently.

Although Trump once said he loved the “poorly educated,” there are many people of good intellect and education who for reasons of their own support him. I wonder what they were thinking as the Oval Office was sullied once again by a man who brings to the White House the likes of Sarah Palin, Ted Nugent, Kid Rock and now Kanye West.

  • For the first time ever, I can say that I agree with President Donald Trump. Today, America is not great. In fact, it is the antithesis of great. For the past two years, I thought that it was only Mr. Trump who was immoral, callous and mean-hearted and that the other branches of our government were merely pawns. But, it now becomes clear that Mr. Trump’s immorality, like a highly contagious disease, has spread to all three branches of the federal government.

Justice Brett Kavanaugh was sworn in as a U.S. Supreme Court Justice. As seen in his Senate hearings, Justice Kavanaugh is a clone of Mr. Trump. He was belligerent, rude, mean-spirited and revengeful. He is the embodiment of Mr. Trump. And he has already warned us that “what comes around goes around.”

Also, this week, the American people saw the true colors of their senators. The senators were rude to their constituents. Instead of listening to their concerns, they called them a mob and said the mob would not intimidate them. As they must be aware, peaceful protests have always been the tool used in order to achieve change for the betterment of the people. So, exactly when do “we the people of the United States” change from the senators’ constituents to a mob.

As our first Republican president, Abraham Lincoln, said, “The people of these United States are the rightful masters of both Congresses and courts, not to overthrow the Constitution, but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution.” We need to follow Lincoln’s advice.

Note from KBJ: Peaceful protests my ass. Keep up the mob behavior, Democrats, and you may never have power again.

  • There was NO DEAL made with Turkey for the release and return of Pastor Andrew Brunson. I don’t make deals for hostages. There was, however, great appreciation on behalf of the United States, which will lead to good, perhaps great, relations between the United States & Turkey!
