  • The Post-Gazette reprinted an article by Avi Selk of The Washington Post concerning Donald Trump’s remarks about an interview of LeBron James by Don Lemon (Aug. 7, “After Trump’s LeBron James Tweet, CNN’s Don Lemon Accuses Him of Being ‘Publicly Racist’”).

The Pledge of Allegiance was adopted by Congress in 1942, and amended with the addition of two words, “under God,” in 1954.

It is time to eliminate the word “indivisible” because Mr. Trump is doing his level best to divide this country.

Is this really what we want and need from a president?

Note from KBJ: Barack Obama was the most divisive president in American history. Were you paying attention, Carole?

  • Many @harleydavidson owners plan to boycott the company if manufacturing moves overseas. Great! Most other companies are coming in our direction, including Harley competitors. A really bad move! U.S. will soon have a level playing field, or better.

  • Many thanks to Michael A. Cohen for his column “Trump’s dangerous war on the press” (Opinion, Aug. 7). I hope that more people will become increasingly aware of the parallels between 1930s Germany and America today. A leader can whip up public hostility toward immigrants, toward groups with different ethnicities or religions, and toward any individuals or institutions that disagree with the leader—a critical step on the way to a dictatorship. A democracy is fragile and vulnerable, and all people need to work to save it from disintegrating. If we stand by idly while it is under attack, we are complicit in its destruction.

Note from KBJ: One wonders how people such as Janet King get through the day. Donald Trump is the first populist president in decades, and she doesn't get it.

  • Why isn’t the FBI giving Andrew McCabe text messages to Judicial Watch or appropriate governmental authorities. FBI said they won’t give up even one (I may have to get involved, DO NOT DESTROY). What are they hiding? McCabe wife took big campaign dollars from Hillary people…..

…..Will the FBI ever recover it’s once stellar reputation, so badly damaged by Comey, McCabe, Peter S and his lover, the lovely Lisa Page, and other top officials now dismissed or fired? So many of the great men and women of the FBI have been hurt by these clowns and losers!
