I voted for neither Donald Trump nor Hillary Clinton in the last election. I take pride in this statement since I did not waste my vote on the least offensive candidate. I disliked each equally.
Having watched the president’s disgraceful press conference in Helsinki on July 16, two things need to happen. All members of the Trump administration, if they have any self-respect left, should resign immediately.
The second thing that needs to happen is for Congress to put partisan politics aside and initiate impeachment proceedings. If there is a proverbial last straw, that day was it.
All conspiracy theories aside, it’s not much of a stretch to now believe that the Russians do have something compromising on the president. If I wasn’t sure about this before I am now.
All Trump apologists should now ask themselves if the president is still worthy of their support.
After today there should be no doubt whatsoever that he isn’t.

When you hear the Fake News talking negatively about my meeting with President Putin, and all that I gave up, remember, I gave up NOTHING, we merely talked about future benefits for both countries. Also, we got along very well, which is a good thing, except for the Corrupt Media!

To the editor:
The United States has spent some 70 years creating and fostering a trans-Atlantic alliance whose main purpose has been to halt or forestall any sort of Russian aggression. We did this through our membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, a body that helped create a world order based on democratic principles like free elections, free speech and the pursuit of justice—and not the use of force.
Now, in a few short months, the current president of the United States has purposefully and wittingly abrogated those responsibilities. To any objective observer, it would seem President Trump has no inkling of the history or importance of our long-standing commitment to our European allies.
I am not sure whether it is just ignorance on the part of the president, which could be alleviated by listening to his experts on foreign policy; or if it is, to use the words of comedian Ron White, a case of “you can’t fix stupid.” Either way, the president has surely damaged our relationships with our allies and enabled Russia to pursue a more aggressive foreign policy.
