Paul Krugman¹ is upset to the point of apoplexy that President-Elect Barack Obama is (or seems to be) unwilling to investigate and prosecute President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and other members of the Bush administration. If there is probable cause to believe that a particular law was broken, there should be an investigation and, if warranted, a prosecution. Nobody is above the law. But somehow I think that Krugman wants more than this. He wants a show trial, during which President Bush and Vice President Cheney are publicly humiliated. If you have read Krugman's columns, essays, reviews, and books during the past eight years, or listened to his speeches, you know that he is obsessed with President Bush. He has a visceral hatred for the man that borders on derangement. President Obama must resist calls by Krugman and his ilk for show trials. Let the Bush-haters stew in their own bile. They have done enough damage to this country already.
