The editorial opinions of the New York Times hardly ever make sense, and those that do are so poorly reasoned as to be laughable. Read this opinion. Pay attention to this paragraph:
The A.B.A. gave its highest rating to Leslie Southwick, a nominee to the New Orleans-based United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. As a state court judge in Mississippi, Judge Southwick signed on to terrible rulings, including one in favor of a white social worker who was fired for calling a black colleague a "good ole nigger" and one that berated a bisexual woman for having a homosexual relationship and took her child away.
For God's sake, editorial board, what were the issues in the cases? What was the law? Did Judge Southwick follow the law? What was his reasoning? The board acts as though a judge's job is to reach the right result, independently of the law. Worse, the "right result" is simply the result required by progressive ideology. It's sad that this great newspaper, which truly was the newspaper of record, has devolved into a propaganda rag. I read it only to see how far it has drifted from journalism.
