Here is a review of a new book about the resurgence of religion in the modern world. Note the gratuitous insult in the final paragraph. That, one suspects, is for the benefit of the typical reader of the New York Times, who needs reassurance at every turn that religion is bad. Has anyone noticed that as religion surges, contrary to the predictions of atheists, the viciousness of atheists increases? Compare the respectful treatment of religion by David Hume (1711-1776), J. L. Mackie (1917-1981), J. J. C. Smart, and William Rowe with the disrespectful treatment by the likes of Daniel Dennett, Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, and Christopher Hitchens.
