Here is a map of the Giro d'Italia, which begins Saturday. Only one American (Andy Hampsten in 1988; see here for an image of Hampsten on Gavia Pass) has won the Giro. American Levi Leipheimer is a contender this year. Lance Armstrong will work for him. I expect Lance to drop out of the race after a week or two to prepare for the Tour de France in July.
