To the Editor:
It is a testament to how far M.B.A. students have strayed from reality that they feel the need to sign a public vow that boils down to, “I promise not to act like a total jerk.”
Funny, I thought that should be the default! What other type of graduate program must give its students a specific directive not to lie, cheat, steal or otherwise act unethically?

The writer will be an M.B.A. student this fall.
Note from KBJ: This is truly idiotic. Have the students mentioned in the New York Times story read Adam Smith? (If not, why not?) Have they heard of the invisible hand? Do they not realize that prosperity—the greater good—depends on self-interest? The good news is that if these students run their businesses with "the greater good" in mind, they will fail. If they had any sense, they would accumulate wealth with single-minded zeal (within the bounds of the law, obviously) and then distribute their wealth to worthy causes.
Note 2 from KBJ: How much do you want to bet that these politically correct students, taught by politically correct professors, have never read this?
