Once again, we get what purports to be a news report, but omits a salient fact: namely, the word(s) that gave offense. You have to be pretty stupid not to notice the difference between using a word and mentioning it. It's like not noticing the difference between using a hammer and mentioning a hammer. To report that X said "Y" is not to say Y.
