I saw Ted Wheeler's press conference about the MAX stabbing and his call for the federal government to revoke the permit for the "alt-right." Two issues: we need to stop calling these groups by their rebranded name. They are neo-fascists and white supremacists—the government and the Oregonian needs to use these descriptors to describe these hate groups.
Secondly, it is wrong to try to silence this group. This is what they want so they can claim that the mainstream is "intolerant." Let them hold their rallies but don't cover it, don't counter-protest and definitely don't confront them. If it's 20 guys shouting at the air it's not news. In short don't give the neo-fascists the attention they crave.
